One goal of originator of this study is to identify which major families are in the United States. Here are some of the known distinct families that have been identified:
  • The descendants of George C Hollabaugh Sr (c.1760-c.1804) possibly from Germany, confirmed Y-Chromosome haplogroup: R-U106. Thomas McKee says the descendants tested have been further refined to L48, but there has not yet been any adjustment made here at WikiTree. Hollenbeck-72 11:38, 5 January 2016 (EST)

According to Jonathan Pearson,
All these new and foreign settlers, until they had churches of their own, brought their children either to Albany or Schenectady to be christened. Hence there will be found in this work many names of families then residing as far west as Caughnawaga and Canajoharie, south to the Helderberg and Schoharie, and north to Galway and Kayaderosseras patent [1].
